Hi everyone! YA books are some of my favourites. Most of them I picked up as a teenager when I was getting back into reading and they hold a lot of good memories for me. Here are my favourite ten. Each of them are so so special. Don’t just take my word for it though. Have a look for yourself!
All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven.
“Theodore Finch wants to take his own life.
Violet Markey is devastated by her sister’s death.
They meet on the ledge of the school bell tower, and so their story begins.
It’s only together they can themselves.
But, as Violet’s world grows, Finch’s begins to shrink.
How far will Violet go to save the boy she has come to love?”
One Of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus.
“Five students walk into detention. Only four leave alive.
Yale hopeful Bronwyn has never publicly broken a rule.
Sports star Cooper only knows what he’s doing in the baseball diamond.
Bad boy Nate is one misstep away from a life of crime.
Prom queen Addy is holding together the cracks in her perfect life.
And outsider Simon, creator of the notorious gossip app at Bayview High, won’t ever talk about any of them again.
He dies 24 hours before he could post their deepest secrets online. Investigators conclude it’s no accident. All of them are suspects.
Everyone has secrets, right?
What really matters is how far you’ll go to protect them.”
One of Us Is Next by Karen M. McManus.
“Another year. Another drama. A whole new set of rules…
Bayview high is just about recovered from the death of gossip king Simon Kelleher a year ago.
Now there’s a new copycat in town who isn’t ready to forget him just yet.
A school-wide game of Truth of Dare seems fun, right?
But this game is lethal. Choosing the truth may reveal your darkest secrets, accepting the dare could be dangerous, even fatal.
The teenagers of Bayview must work together once again to find the culprit, before it’s too late. . .”
All This Time by Daughtry and Lippincott.
“Can you find true love after losing everything?
Kyle and Kimberly are the perfect couple. At least that’s what Kyle’s always thought. But when Kimberly breaks up with him on the night of their graduation party, Kyle’s entire world is turned upside down – literally. Their car crashes, and when Kyle wakes up he has a brain injury. Kimberly is dead. No one is his life could possibly understand. . .Until Marley.
Marley is suffering from her own loss, a loss she thinks was her fault. As Kyle’s and Marley’s feelings for each other grow stronger, Kyle can’t shake the sense that he’s headed for another crashing moment, just as soon as he’s started to put his life back together.
And he’s right.”
Looking For Alaska by John Green.
“Miles Halter’s whole life has been one big non-event, until he meets Alaska Young.
Gorgeous, clever and undoubtedly screwed up. Alaska draws Miles into her reckless world and irrevocably steals his heart. For Miles, nothing can ever be the same again.”
Five Feet Apart by Lippincott, Daughtry and Iaconis.
“Can you love someone you can never touch?
Stella Grant likes to be in control – even though her totally out-of-control lungs have sent her in and out of the hospital most of her life. At this point, what Stella needs to control most is her distance from anyone or anything that might pass along an infection and jeopardize the possibility of a lung transplant. Six feet apart. No exceptions
The only thing Will Newman wants to be in control of is getting out of this hospital. He couldn’t care less about his treatments or a fancy new clinical trial. Will’s exactly what Stella needs to stay away from. But suddenly six feet doesn’t feel like safety. It feels like punishment.
What if they could steal back just a little bit of the space their broken lungs have stolen from them? Would five feet apart really be so dangerous if it stops their hearts from breaking too?”
Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon.
“ ‘Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster.’
Maddy is allergic to the world; stepping outside the sterile sanctuary of her home could kill her.
But then Olly moves in next door. And just like that, Maddy realises there’s more to life than just being alive.
You only get one chance at first love. And Maddy is ready to risk everything, everything to see where it leads.”
The Sun Is Also A Star by Nicola Yoon.
“The story of a girl, a boy, and the universe.
Natasha: I’m a girl who believes in science and facts. Not fate. Not destiny Or dreams that will never come true. I’m definitely not the kind of girl who meets a cute boy on a crowded New York City street and falls in love with him. Not when my family is twelve hours away from being deported to Jamaica. Falling in love with him won’t be my story.
Daniel: I’ve always been the good son, the good student, living up to my parents’ high expectations. Never the poet. Or the dreamer. But when I see her, I forget about all that. Something about Natasha makes me think that fate has something much more extraordinary in store – for both of us.
The Universe: Every moment in our lives has brought us to this single moment. A million futures lie before us. Which one will come true?
The Exact Opposite of Okay by Laura Steven.
Izzy never expected to be eighteen and internationally reviled. But when photos involving her, a politician’s son and a garden bench emerge, the trolls set out to take her apart.
Armed with best friend Ajita and a metric ton of nachos, she must figure out who’s behind the vicious website – while keeping her sanity intact.
Izzy is about to find out that the way the world treats girls is not okay.
It’s the Exact Opposite of Okay.”
Love Simon by Becky Albertall.
Simon Spier is sixteen and trying to work out who he is – and what he’s looking for.
But when one of his emails to the very distracting Blue falls into the wrong hands, things get all kinds of complicated.
Because, for Simon, falling for Blue is a big deal…”
So that’s it. My top 10 YA books. I hope some of these caught your eye. Happy reading!
Stay Curious!
